Manage
The Manage Component works to identify and communicate the focus of the school counseling program. It draws from school data, student outcomes, action and lesson plans, and administrative feedback.
School Counselor's Use of Time
The ASCA recommends that school counselors use a use-of-time calculator two or more times a year. This is to aid the school counselor in maintaining the recommended 80% of time used for either direct or indirect school counseling services.
The Advisory Council
The Advisory Council is made up of representatives of stakeholders whose purpose is to facilitate the implementation of the school counseling program by offering advice on the outcome goals expected by students each year, reviewing the results of those goals, providing recommendations in regards to the school counseling program, representing and soliciting aid for the school counseling program in their reactions with the public, and locating and obtaining resources and funds for the school counseling program. The Advisory Council convenes two or more times a year. The Advisory Council meets on the first Wednesday of the months of August and February (possibly more) in the school counselor's classroom.
